In this post, we’ll discuss the ways you can use CBD, as well as the three formulations of CBD oil: full spectrum (<0.3% THC), broad spectrum (THC-free), and isolate. Currently, IE offers full spectrum or broad spectrum CBD oil in our farmhouse blend, mint, and lemon tinctures.
HOW CAN I ADMINISTER CBD?
- Sublingual – this means that it is taken in oil form under the tongue and absorbed directly into the bloodstream. This is how our tinctures should be taken.
- Edible – this delivery method is achieved by eating products such as gummies or candy that are infused with CBD. This method isn’t as effective as sublingual or inhaling CBD because it is first processed through your digestive system before moving into your bloodstream.
- Topical – this is the least effective delivery method, but can be used to treat specific pain spots as it is applied directly to the source of discomfort and can immediately be absorbed by the tissue surrounding where it is applied.
- Inhalation – this delivery method can be done by smoking hemp flower, vaping, or dabbing. This method also delivers CBD directly to the bloodstream.
WHAT IS FULL SPECTRUM HEMP EXTRACT CBD OIL?
Full spectrum CBD tinctures contain all of the phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that are found in the hemp plant, including CBD and THC. There is some thought that the full spectrum products can produce an “entourage effect,” where the different cannabinoids work together to increase the effectiveness of the products, but this has not been scientifically proven.
It’s important to note that a third party tests all of our products to ensure that the amount of THC is <0.3%, the legal limit for it in CBD oil. As with all of our products, we make these third-party lab testing results freely available to you on our product pages.
WHAT IS BROAD SPECTRUM HEMP EXTRACT CBD OIL?
Broad spectrum CBD tinctures are THC-free, but still contain CBD and all of the other minor phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Because these products contain all the natural phytocannabinoids except THC, the “entourage effect” can still happen, with a slightly different profile.
To ensure that our broad spectrum tinctures are THC-free, a third-party tests them. As with all of our products, we make these third-party lab testing results freely available to you on our product pages. If you’re concerned at all about drug tests but would still like to use our CBD tinctures, we recommend you use our broad spectrum products.
WHAT IS CBD ISOLATE?
CBD isolate is pure cannabidiol, which is closest to the pharmaceutical form of cannabidiol called Epidiolex, which is FDA-approved to treat multiple forms of pediatric seizures. We do not currently offer tinctures that contain CBD isolate. No CBD isolate from any company is the same as the FDA-approved Epidiolex.
